Ægivald hafsins, sem geymir lífsbjörg íbúanna við brimvarða ströndina í skauti sér, er algert. Það gefur líf og það tekur líf! Brimgarðurinn er sá varnarmúr sem erfiðast er að sigrast á þegar hafið verður hamslaust og sýnir klærnar.

Með þessum gjörningi heiðrum við minningu þeirra sjómanna sem létu lífið í átökum við hafið.

Rememberance

The awesome power of the sea, which holds the livelihood of the inhabitants of the surf-battered shore in its embrace, is absolute. It gives life and it takes life! The surf is the defensive wall that is hardest to overcome when the sea becomes enraged and shows its claws.

With this act, we honour the memory of those sailors who lost their lives in the struggle with the sea.

Their memory lives on.
