Þór Stefánsson hefur sent frá sér tuttugu ljóðabækur síðan 1989. Einnig hafa komið út allmargar þýðingar eftir hann, aðallega úr frönsku, oft sýnisbækur ljóða eftir frönskumælandi skáld frá öðrum löndum en Frakklandi. Þá hefur Þór tekið saman sýnisbækur lifandi skálda á Íslandi og þýtt ljóðin á frönsku.

Bækur Þórs hafa verið þýddar á fimm tungumál og gefnar út í þremur heimsálfum. Sýnishorn ljóða hans hafa birst í ýmsum safnritum þýdd á fjórða tug tungumála.

Undanfarið hafa þýðingar Þórs á ljóðum frá öllum heimshornum verið fastur liður í Dagskránni, fréttablaði Suðurlands.

Everyone is warmly welcome to an Hour of Poetry with Þór Stefánsson. A friendly collaboration between the Library in Eyrarbakki and Oceanus “Stórsjór”. Þór Stefánsson is one of the Oceanus artists this year.

Þór Stefánsson has published twenty books of poetry since 1989. He has also published a number of translations, mainly from French, often collections of poetry by French-speaking poets from countries other than France. In addition, Þór has compiled collections of works by living Icelandic poets and translated the poems into French.

Þór’s books have been translated into five languages and published on three continents. Samples of his poems have appeared in various anthologies, translated into almost forty languages.

Recently, Þór’s translations of poems from all corners of the world have been a regular feature in Dagskráin, a South Iceland newspaper.
